Belles Edged Out in Tight Matches Against IU-Northwest, Franklin

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team battled but came up short in a 3-2 (25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 23-25, 15-8) final against IU-Northwest and in a 3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22) contest against Franklin at Manchester University on Friday night.
 
Colleen McCarthy led all players in the match against IU-Northwest with 22 kills and collected a double-double with 11 digs. Cali Allen posted a double-double of her own with 12 kills and a match-high 25 digs. Courtney Pelletier chipped in 12 digs, and Remington Vincent tallied 22 assists with 11 digs and a match-high three service aces. Mia Shields put down eight kills with two aces. Grace Braselton recorded a pair of solo blocks for the Belles, and Karla Rigan put up 17 assists.
 
In the second match of the night, McCarthy again led the offensive efforts with 14 kills. Shields added 11 kills on a .440 hitting effort. Delany Martin and Grace Braselton each put down five kills. Courtney Pelletier led the team with 10 digs against the Grizzlies. Remington Vincent had 16 assists while Karla Rigan added 11 assists.
 
The Belles (3-7) begin conference play on Tuesday when they host Kalamazoo at 6:30 p.m.
