GREENWOOD, Ind. - Saint Mary's juniors Cali Allen and Shay Theile were named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team as announced by the College Sports Communicators.

She led the team in kills (190), digs (223), and service aces (21) this fall while finishing second on the team in total points (221.0). Allen competed in 74 of the team's sets over the span of all 20 matches and had seven double-doubles.

A communication studies major with minors in public relations/advertising and graphic design from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Theile also holds a cumulative grade point average above the requisite 3.5 and played a key role for the volleyball team this season. She was second on the team in total blocks (27), third in service aces (16), and fourth in total kills (83) with 115.0 total points on the year. Theile set a career-high mark in kills in a road win at Beloit in September.

The pair are two of 26 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball student-athletes to be named as Academic All-District® honorees for the 2023 season.

According to the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
