NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball heads to Manchester, Indiana to compete in three matches over two days at the Manchester Invite. The Belles will take on Franklin College on Friday night and will face Manchester University and Alma College in a doubleheader on Saturday.
The Belles go into the tournament after a dominating 3-0 sweep of Benedictine University in the home opener on Tuesday. Saint Mary's is 4-1 to open the season which is their best start since the 2015 season.
The Belles are led by freshman Kalli Lewkowski who leads the team in total kills (46) and kills per set (2.71). Sophomore Caroline Carens and senior Cali Allen are the other two Belles with over 40 kills this season, as Carens has 44 and Allen with 40. Carens and Lewkowski also lead the team in total blocks (10) while Allen also currently leads the team in service aces with 13.
Sophomore Abby Reese leads the team exponentially in assists (116) and assists per set (8.29). Junior Karli Fegan leads the team in total digs (81) and digs per set (4.76), her total digs almost doubling the next highest.
Franklin Grizzlies
The Grizzlies come into the tournament with a 3-6 record but have won three of their last five matches. Franklin is led by Kaitlyn Lavy in kills (90), Brionna Linkel in assists (156), Hope Moring in service aces (18) and total digs (86), and Tiffany Schroeder leads the team in blocks (31).
Manchester Spartans
The Spartans will take on Alma on Friday night before facing the Belles on Saturday at noon. Manchester comes into the tournament with a 4-4 record and are currently 1-1 against MIAA opponents. The Spartans are led by Avery Ball in kills (84), Morgan Howard in assists (152), Falyn McPeek in service aces (15), Tiffany Watterson leads the team in digs (87), and Lily Lichtenbarger leads the team in blocks (34).
Alma Scots
The Belles and Scots will face off in a non-conference matchup after Alma stepped in for Governors State who dropped out late. The Scots come into the tournament with a 1-6 record and have lost three straight. Alma is led by Nevea Bush in kills (69), Vicky Villarosa in assists (107), Madison Bott in service aces (14), Grace Steiner leads the team in digs (91), and Callie Smith leads the team in blocks (24).
