NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball earned a hard-fought victory over Kalamazoo College on Wednesday night, 3-1. The Belles improve to 7-2 on the year while the Hornets fall to 6-7.
Saint Mary's was near perfect in the first set as they finished with zero errors and had a hitting percentage of .500. The Belles caused seven errors on the Hornets as they finished with a dominant victory, 25-9.
While Kalamazoo bounced back in the second set and made it a closer contest than the first set made it seem, the Belles were able to pull out a 26-24 victory after forcing the Hornets to commit 11 errors.
Kalamazoo came back and took the third set, 25-14, after holding the Belles to a -.029 hitting percentage.
Saint Mary's finished the Hornets off with a 25-17 victory in the final set and used 13 total kills to take Kalamazoo out of the match.
Sophomore Caroline Carens led the match in kills with 15 while freshman Kalli Lewkowski finished with 10. Carens and Lewkowski both finished with hitting percentages above .400, Carens at .500 and Lewkowski at .400. Sophomore Abby Reese finished with a match high 21 assists while freshman Giuliana Graczyk finished with 19. The Belles had three players with double-digit digs, senior Cali Allen led the match with 19.

Saint Mary's heads to Naperville, Illinois to take on North Central College on Friday night starting at 8pm eastern. The Belles then return home on September 24 to host Manchester University at 7pm.
