Cardinals Take Down Belles

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball fell to North Central College on Friday night, 3-0. The Belles fall to 7-3 on the year while the Cardinals improve to 7-4.

While Saint Mary's tried to keep up, North Central was able to take a commanding 25-18 victory in the first set after outkilling the Belles by a total of 16-5. Freshman Kalli Lewkowski led the team with two kills in the set while freshman Giuliana Graczyk led the team with two assists in the set.

The Cardinals wouldn't stop there as they took down the Belles 25-12 in the second set to take a quick 2-0 lead. Sophomore Caroline Carens and Lewkowski both added two kills in the set while Graczyk added four assists.

While Saint Mary's got out to a hot start to begin the third set, North Central was able to retake control of the match and finish off the Belles with a 25-16 victory in the final set.

Lewkowski led the Belles with seven kills while junior Delaney Martin added six to the total. Sophomore Abby Reese led the Belles in assists with 13 while senior Cali Allen and junior Karli Fegan led the team with seven digs each.

UP NEXT FOR THE BELLES:

Saint Mary's returns home on Tuesday to host Manchester University for a 7pm contest. The Belles and Spartans met less than a week ago where Saint Mary's came out victorious, 3-2, giving the program its first win over Manchester since 2018. The Belles then travel to Terre Haute, Indiana to compete in the Rose-Hulman invitational where they will play three matches in two days including a match against Anderson University on Friday and matches against Illinois College and the host Rose-Hulman on Saturday.
