Belles Fall to Ravens in Straight Sets

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball was defeated by Anderson University on Friday night, 3-0. The Belles fall to 7-5 while the Ravens improve to 9-3.

The first set was a back-and-forth affair as both teams used short runs to keep it close, but Anderson would prevail, 25-23. Freshman Kalli Lewkowski led Saint Mary's in the set with four kills while sophomore Caroline Carens followed with three.

The second set looked to go the same way as the first, but as the Belles kept it to a two-point game, the Ravens would use an 8-1 run to close out the set, 25-16. Lewkowski had six kills in the set to bring her total to 10 while sophomore Abby Reese would bring her assist total to double-figures with 11.

While the third set was the same story early on, Saint Mary's had a three point lead late in the set and was looking to extend the match. However, Anderson would use a 9-1 run to comeback and take the set, 25-20, and the match from Saint Mary's to sweep the season series between the two schools.

Lewkowski led the team with 12 kills and junior Grace Braselton followed with eight. Reese would finish with a team high 14 assists and junior Karli Fegan would add a team leading 11 digs. Junior Delaney Martin and senior Cali Allen would both record multiple service aces, Martin with three and Allen with two.
