Allen Surpasses 500 Career Kills as Belles Take Down Britons

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball defeated Albion College on Wednesday night, 3-0. The Belles improve to 9-13 (1-6 MIAA) while the Britons fall to 8-22 (4-3 MIAA). Midway through the second set, senior Cali Allen (Berrien Springs, MI) surpassed the 500 career kill mark!

Saint Mary's was dominant offensively in the first set as they outkilled Albion, 13-10, to take an early lead 25-18. Sophomore Caroline Carens (Naperville, IL) led the Belles with three kills in the set while junior Patricia Settlemier (North Richland, TX) and freshman Kalli Lewkowski (Spring Lake, MI) each had three.

The second set was an offensive battle as Saint Mary's would take it 25-21. The Belles recorded 17 kills in the second set alone and four Belles were hitting over .300 on the match. Carens brought her kill total to nine while Settlemier and Allen went to six.

Saint Mary's continued to dominate Albion in the third set as they would take the set, 25-15, earning their first MIAA win of the season. 

The Belles would outkill the Britons, 41-35, while hitting .271 as a team on the night. They also finished with double-digit kills in every set. Carens led the match with 13 kills while Lewkowski followed with eight. Settlemier and Allen both recorded seven kills. Graczyk led the match with 18 assists while sophomore Abby Reese (Elkhart, IN) recorded 11. Three Belles recorded double-digit digs, Allen and junior Karli Fegan (Orland Park, IL) had 14 while Reese had 11.

Saint Mary's concludes the regular season on Saturday when they host the University of Olivet with a 1pm start. The Belles will also be hosting Senior Day after the match to honor the Class of 2025.
