Carens Earns All-MIAA Honors

WHITE LAKE, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball sophomore Caroline Carens was named to the All-MIAA Second Team the league announced on Friday.

Carens, a native of Naperville, Illinois, had a career year and helped lead the Belles to their best season since 2019. She set career highs in five significant stats this season.

Carens tallied 221 kills while hitting .287 on the year. She also recorded 12 service aces while putting up 66 total blocks (18 solo, 44 assists). She also recorded 273 points on the year. All of these were career highs for the sophomore. She would lead the team in kills, blocks, and points while finishing second in hitting percentage. 

She ranked sixth in the conference in hitting percentage, ninth in blocks per set (0.78), and sixth in points per set (3.41). In conference play alone, she would rank tenth in kills per set (2.9) and sixth in points per set (3.69).

Claiming MIAA Most Valuable Player honors was Hope College's Addie VanderWeide who also won the award last season. Also repeating a conference honor was Adrian College's Mya Minjares who took home Defensive Player of the Year for the third straight year. Albion College's Kayda Herrick was named Freshman of the Year while Alma College's Madison Bott took home the Senior Impact Award.
