
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball senior Cali Allen (Berrien Springs, MI) and junior Patricia Settlemier (North Richland Hills, TX) were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District for NCAA Division III. This is Allen's second straight year receiving the honor while this is Settlemier's first.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Award, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale). They must have reached a sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at the institution.
Allen, the business major with concentrations in management and marketing, recorded 147 kills for 184.5 points this season. She also recorded 232 digs and 47 assists while putting up a team high 30 service aces. She played in 80 sets and all 23 matches for the Belles. Allen surpassed the 500 career kill mark during the Belles match against Albion on November 6.
Settlemier, the speech language pathology major and early childhood education minor, recorded 62 kills for 77 points this season. She also recorded 28 digs and 26 total blocks on the year. Settlemier put down at least four kills in seven matches while putting up at least two blocks in seven matches.
The Belles as a team finished the year with a 10-13 overall record and a 2-6 MIAA record, finishing seventh in the conference.
