Belles Begin Season at Manchester Hokum Karem

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Saint Mary's cross country team kicked off the 2019 season by competing in the Manchester University Hokum Karem race on Friday evening.
 
The relay-style race has two teammates pair up to run alternating miles. There was no team score at the event.
 
The Saint Mary's pairing of Julia O'Grady and Angela Bannan was the first duo to complete the race as the two posted a combined time of 35:28.8 for fifth place overall. Each of O'Grady's splits were below six minutes while Bannan did not have a split above 6:03. Katie Glenn and Riley Swope were ninth overall with a time of 36:43.8. Glenn posted each repeat below 6:10 in the event.
 
Addie Bobosky and Shanan Hamilton were twelfth overall with a 36:57.8 and a 6:10 per mile pace. Bobosky saved her fastest mile for last with a 6:00.5. Maura Honan and Bridget Kenney were 23rd overall (39:26.3) while teammates Julia Bobosky and Brigid Conmy were 24th with the same 39:26.3 cumulative time. Claudia Stiglitz and Alexa Zeese were 28th after posting a 40:41.3. Emily Blank and Anna DeMars, meanwhile, were 29th with a combined 40:50.4
 
Alynn McPencow and Mikayla Trumbla were 34th out of more than 40 groups with a time of 42:11.1. Michaela Barry and Julia Crowley rounded out the Saint Mary's performances with 36th place after a combined time of 43:20.2.
 
Next up for the Belles is the Calvin Knight Invitational on Saturday, September 7 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
