GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saint Mary's cross country team placed seventeenth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by Calvin University on Saturday afternoon.

 

No. 21 ranked John Carroll captured the team title with a team score of 83 while No. 23 Baldwin Wallace was just one point behind in second place with an 84. The Belles finished the race with a team score of 466 for the 17th place finish in a field of 37 programs competing. Saint Mary's finished nine places higher in the standings (26th) from last year's finish at the NCAA Regional to cap off a strong team effort for the 2019 campaign.

 

Due to course conditions, the race distance was shortened by approximately 400 meters according to Calvin University administrators. The times posted by runners in the event were faster than projected 6k times with the adjusted course.

 

Julia O'Grady was three places away from capturing all-region honors as the freshman edged past a runner from Oberlin for 38th place with a time of 22:31.3. Katie Glenn posted a time of 23:18.4 to place 81st overall as she finished half of a second ahead of a runner from Ohio Northern.

 

Addie Bobosky ran a 23:45.5 to finish 105th for the Belles. Angela Bannan and Shanan Hamilton crossed the finish line within 13 seconds of one another. Bannan posted a 24:07.2 for 117th, and Hamilton capped off the team finish with a 24:19.8 for 125th.

 

Alexa Zeese powered past a runner from Rose-Hulman to take 133rd in a time of 24:30.3. Riley Swope posted a 24:51.5 to place 145th overall in a field of 233 runners.

 

The Belles were the fourth-highest finishing team among MIAA programs at the race to conclude the season.
